Meet Aaron and Krystal Meehan

God began to lead Rev. Aaron Meehan into the ministry at a very young age. At the age of 14, he was honored to preach his first sermon. Two years later, he was asked to become youth pastor at Open Door Apostolic Church in Ft. Pierce, Fl, a position he carried for 8 years. Aaron has carried a minister’s license with the UPCI since 2008.

Similarly, Krystal also started ministry at a young age. At 19, she became the Youth Prayer Director at The Sanctuary of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach, Fl. This position opened opportunities for her to speak at youth functions around the state of Florida. She has had a personal hand in starting and growing almost every ministry at the Higher Purpose Pentecostal Church.

They are proud parents of William Alexander Meehan and Rebekah Isabella Meehan.

Our History

For many years,

Rev. Deign Sheerer felt God calling him to start a church in Stuart, Fl. This feeling was confirmed by several prophecies from his leaders and peers, one of which stated specifically that Rev. Sheerer would “Help to link up the Treasure Coast”.

In 2011,

What was then called “The Apostolic Church of Stuart” was started in a Quality Inn conference room. Rev. Sheerer played his guitar and sang, while his wife joined on the piano. A few saints from the surrounding churches joined the mission. But sadly, it seemed that the dream would only be short lived. Not too long after the church was started, the Sheerers had a family emergency and could not continue as pastor. They refused to let this new church shut down, so they called on local pastors within the United Pentecostal Church International to help.

In 2013,

That small congregation voted in Rev. Aaron Meehan as the new pastor. This would prove to be the plan of God from the beginning. Pastor Meehan has family members serving in the ministry all up and down the Treasure Coast. When Pastor Meehan was voted in, it fulfilled the prophecy given to Rev. Sheerer that he would help to link up the Treasure Coast.

Only a short time later,

The church moved to a vacated dance studio for services. With purple walls, sparkly spot lights on the ceiling and checkered tiles on the floor, we could only see the potential that this building had. Eventually, we painted over the dark purple walls and replaced the spot lights (we still worship on those checkered floors).

In 2018,

Our church took on a new name, “Higher Purpose Pentecostal Church”. This name reflects our higher purpose as a church, which is to worship God, love our neighbors and preach the gospel. It is also our message to every individual in the city of Stuart, Fl. You have a higher purpose in Christ Jesus!

We would love for you to join our story and help us fulfill the higher purpose God has given us.
